Walking With God

If you would, turn in your Bibles to the book of Genesis chapter five. The book of Genesis chapter five. And when you reach the book of Genesis chapter five, please signify by saying amen.

Tonight we’re going to talk about Enoch. We’re going to talk a little bit about Enoch tonight. Is that alright?

In Genesis chapter five, look at verse eighteen. And we’re going to go down to verse twenty-three.

18. And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

19. And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

20. And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

21. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

22. And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

23. And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

Let us pray.

Most holy and gracious heavenly Father, we thank You for who You are and for what You do. Master, hide Your son behind the cross that Your people see You and not me. And Father, as I decrease tonight, I ask earnestly that You would increase. And Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ holy and blessed Name.

And the people of God said amen. You may be seated in the house of God.

When we talk about the great patriarchs of the Bible, there are only a few Scriptures that are written about Enoch. But those few Scriptures that have been written about Enoch say a lot about who he actually was.

When we look at the name “Enoch,” it means consecrated. It means (glory to God) dedicated and devoted to the service and the worship of God. It meant to be set apart from that which was common.

There are only two men in the Bible that the Bible states that walked with God. One of them was Enoch, and the other one was Noah. Enoch started walking with God after he began his son named Methuselah.

You see, what happens is, there was a birthing that took place in the natural. But if you want to walk with God, there’s got to be a birthing that takes place in the Spirit. You don’t want to talk to me tonight.

The Bible said after he begat Methuselah, he said he began to walk with God. You see, you can’t really walk with God until the fruit of the Spirit have been birthed through you–love, joy, peace, longsuffering, temperance, meekness, goodness, gentleness, and faith. Come on. Go with me tonight.

After there was a birthing, the Bible said that he walked with God. God wants us as the body of Christ to begin to plant seeds of righteousness, so that our spiritual birthings are not with defect. Let me say that again. You see, in order for what you bring forth not to have defects and deformities with it, you and I have got to plant seeds of righteousness.

Satan wants to destroy your fruit on arrival.

When we look at the book of Exodus chapter one, and beginning around verse fifteen, it begins to talk about how Pharaoh wanted to destroy all of the new arrivals. And there were midwives that were there. And he gave the midwives instructions.

You see, if you don’t have the right midwife, you’re going to be in trouble. You don’t want to talk to me tonight. You see, when you’re getting ready to give birth something in the Spirit, you have got to have the right midwife around. Do you want to hear what I’m saying tonight? Because if you got the wrong midwife around, then what you bring firth is going to surely be put to death.

There were midwives. And Pharaoh gave these two midwives instructions. He said destroy the boys that come from the womb. But the midwives feared God.

You see, if you going to bring something forth without defect and without it being destroyed, your midwife has got to be God-fearing. Do you hear what I’m saying? You need somebody in the birthing room that got holy hands. You don’t want to talk to me tonight.

The Bible said after... After Enoch gave birth then he began to walk with God. You see, if you’re going to walk with God, you got to have somebody there that’s present when that baby is delivered.

You remember Saul. Then his name was changed to Paul. But once Paul, Saul was on the backside of the desert, the Holy Spirit was impregnating him with the things of God. But after he came out the desert he needed a... Oh, you don’t want to talk to me. He needed midwives around to help him bring forth and nurture that thing that God had given to him. Don’t tell me you can do it by yourself.

Pharaoh gave them instruction. He said, “I want you to destroy every boy.” But see, when you got folks around that fear God, they’re not going to follow Pharaoh’s orders.

The Bible said that after all of these boys were born, Pharaoh came to the midwives. He said, “Didn’t I tell you to destroy them? Why didn’t you obey me?”

I can imagine what they said. “It’s better to obey God than to obey man.”

The Bible said that since the midwives obeyed Him and not Pharaoh, that God gave them families of their own.

You see, God wants you to birth something in the Spirit. He wants you to birth His character. Do you hear what I’m saying? See, you can’t walk with God without having God’s character. Do you hear what I’m saying? You got to be changed from the inside out in order to walk with my God. My God ain’t going to just walk with anything. My God is not going to be with just anything. Do you hear what I’m saying tonight?

See, you’ve got something special on the inside of you. But if you don’t have the right people around... See, that’s why when you go into a church where they can’t see what’s in you, shame on you. Don’t tell me you going there because of mama, daddy, sister, brother. Grand-mama went there.

Been there. Done that. I was called from the womb. But couldn’t nobody see it, because they ain’t had no... You don’t want to talk. They ain’t had no eyes to see the baby that was on the inside of me. The right midwife wasn’t around.

You see, and God will cause you to hold that baby until He gets you with the right midwife. You hear what I’m saying? You may have been holding it for five years. But you ain’t got the right midwife yet. You been maybe holding it for ten years. But you ain’t got the right midwife yet. But when you get the right midwife, you are going to have a baby, somebody.

You been wondering all this time. You been feeling pregnant. But ain’t nothing happening. You been going through the morning sicknesses, but ain’t nothing happening. You been having the labor pains, but ain’t nothing happening. He ain’t got the right folk around you yet. They don’t call the doctor until the baby’s... Until they see the crown of a baby’s head coming down.

If you want to walk with God, you got to have somebody around you that knows how to make a delivery. See, you can’t have unskilled folks in the Spirit trying to deliver your baby.

See, if someone is bound in tradition, they think they know how it go. Because they been doing it for twenty and thirty and forty and fifty years the same way. And they don’t plan on changing. But God can do a new thing, can’t He?

See, you got to have somebody that knows how to flow with the Spirit of God. Not somebody in today and out tomorrow. Oh, you don’t want to talk to me tonight.

The Bible said that after he gave birth he began to walk with God. His relationship got right. Because his character changed. Couldn’t see him no more.

The Bible said over in Hebrews chapter eleven and verse five... It talked about how Enoch was translated. But then in verse six it went on to talk about, “But without faith it’s impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

The key was that he pleased God. And when you look at that word “please,” it means to agree with. In other words, he agreed with God.

The Bible says in the book of Amos chapter three and verse three, “How can two walk together except they be,” what? Agreed. See, you can’t walk with God except you be of the same opinion of God.

You see, we try to walk with Him. But we want our way. See, you can’t walk with God and want your way at the same time. Oh, you don’t want to talk to me. See, I can love God all I want to. But except my ways line up with His ways, except my thoughts line up with His thoughts, then we can’t be together. Our relationship will never be right.

Enoch agreed with God. And in order for God to agree with him, God had to see him... You don’t want to talk to me. God had to see Himself in Enoch. In order for God to really walk with you, God has got to take a look at you and say, “There I go.”

I can’t walk with God wearing yesterday’s clothes. I got to put on a new garment.

Enoch walked with God because he agreed with God. He said, “God, whatever You say, that’s what counts, and that’s what matters.” But he said, but without faith it was impossible... In other words, that word “faith” meant that he had an uncompromising belief. He said, “No matter what I’m going through...”

You know, a lot of us think it’s our family that’s hindering us. It’s not family. The Bible said that he had sons. He had daughters. In other words, he had family all around him. It ain’t your family that’s hindering you. It’s you hindering you.

We can’t continue to use our family as an excuse to why we can’t walk with Almighty God. I don’t care who my family is–mother, father, sister brother. You name them. Glory to God. I’m going to walk with my God. I want to do what my Savior says to do.

Enoch didn’t use the excuses that we use. I would have went to the next level, but... I would do that, but... I would go there, Lord, but... When you look at all of these men of God and women of God... Even Deborah. She was a judge. Deborah was married, somebody. She had family. Your family cannot be the reason why you’re not walking with your God.

The Bible said that he had this testimony that he pleased God. He wasn’t looking out for himself. When we look at what happened to him, the Bible said he was translated. Look at your neighbor and say, “He was translated.”

To be translated means to be moved from one place to another. But how in the world could he be moved from one place to another? How can he be moved from the natural to the spirit? How could Elijah be moved from the natural to the Spirit? Their relationship with God was authentic. It was genuine. It was real. It was real. It was nothing phony or fake about it.

Enoch didn’t use his faith to try to get a new car. He didn’t use his faith to try to get a new house. He didn’t use his faith to try to get a new job. He used his faith to please God. Oh, that’s going to minister to somebody’s heart.

See, the Bible says when a man’s ways please the Lord, He’ll make his enemies to be at peace with him. See, when folk tell you no, God will say yes. He’ll change their very heart for you. He’ll give you favor when nobody else got favor. They’ll be wondering how did this happen to you. You’ll say, “The Lord did it. It’s the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in my eyes.”

He had all his ducks in a row. He said, “I’m in this thing not for me. See, I don’t have to have a big book like Daniel.” You don’t want to talk to me. “I don’t have to be big like Jeremiah. I don’t have go to like Isaiah. All I need is a few Scriptures to tell them about me.”

See, when somebody really sees God in you, they don’t have to spend day and night with you and know... Oh, my God. The little bit they know about you will minister to their hearts. That Anointing that you have on you that’s radiating through your life will speak for itself.

It’ll make them stand to attention and reverence you when they don’t want to reverence you, when they want to cuss you out. Oh, my God. Who am I preaching to tonight? They’ll want to cuss you out and put their hand over their mouth.

Enoch walked with God. He had that testimony that he brought God pleasure. When I examine my life, and I really evaluate myself, am I pleasing the Lord or am I trying to please me? Hello, somebody. Am I going for God’s heart’s desire, or am I trying to fulfill my own heart’s... You don’t want to talk to me tonight.

The Bible says that if you commit your way unto the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart. And He’ll also bring it to pass. But guess what? His desires have got to be your desires and visa versa.

I want to walk with God. I want to talk with God. I want to be with God. I want to dwell with God. When nobody else can feel His Presence, I want to be able to look around and say, “You all don’t feel Him?” And when I know He’s come to minister and aid somebody else, I want to feel His Presence too. I want my relationship to be where if somebody else is feeling Him I’m feeling Him to. “God, You done giving them a little bit. You going to give me a little bit.” You don’t want to talk to me.

That’s what I want. I want a tight relationship. I want a relationship like Enoch had. See, because guess what. Enoch ain’t got nothing on you. See, because the Bible tells me in First Thessalonians chapter four that the dead in Christ are going to rise first. But we that are alive and remain are going to be caught up to meet them in the air. I don’t have to be jealous of Enoch, because I can be translated myself.

Take a self examination. Are my ways really pleasing God? Or am I really pleasing myself? And don’t try to hide and justify nothing. You know on the inside. You don’t have to hear from nobody. You know on the inside whether or not you’re pleasing God. You know.

If you want to walk with Him, start pleasing Him. Don’t be selfish. Because God’s not selfish with us. He’s generous. He’ll give you whatever He has. He’s even given you His Beloved Son to die for us on Calvary.

He’s given you all you need tonight to walk with Him. And He’ll give you midwives in the Spirit to help you bring that thing forth. He will.

And if the baby’s too big to come through the womb, they’ll even perform a C-section for you. Oh, you don’t want to talk to me. See, if what you got to do for God is that big and that great, He’s got skilled folks in the Spirit that will cut you in all the right places. And then when they sew you back up, you’ll barely be able to see the scar. But you got to see a little something to know that something came forth.

I want to walk with God. I remember years ago the Lord began to speak to me about that little Scripture, “Enoch walked with God.” And I said, “Lord, You want me to walk with You?” And He began to minister to my heart.

And then after all of these years a sister came to me. And she began to minister to me. And she said, “Enoch walked with God.”

I said, “Lord, I hear You. You’re saying it all over again.”

But guess what. God is not just talking to me. He’s talking to the body of Christ. And He’s saying, “Enoch walked with Me. Won’t you come and walk with Me?” He said, “I don’t want to walk by Myself. Come and walk with Me. Turn from your wicked ways and walk with Me.”

If you want to walk with Jesus tonight, lift up your hand right where you are.

Every head bowed and every eye closed...
