Who Are You Murdering In The Spirit?

Tonight we’re going to come from a familiar passage of Scripture in the book of Genesis chapter four. Will you go there with me? Genesis chapter four. Would you please stand for the reading of God’s Word tonight?

Genesis chapter four. And in Genesis chapter four, we’re going to look at verse one through verse ten. Verse one through verse ten. And when you reach there signify by saying amen.

1. And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9. And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

10. And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

Let us pray.

Most holy and gracious heavenly Father, we thank You for who You are and for what You do. Father, hide Your son behind the cross, that Your people would see You and not me. Dear Lord, as I decrease I ask that You would increase.

Father, I thank You right now that every principality and power and ruler of the darkness of this world is bound right now and forbidden to operate. We command you to loose your hold and to go back to the dry places.

Father, we thank You for Your Word that shall not return unto You void. But Father, it shall accomplish everything that You sent it forth to accomplish. We give you glory that You have anointed this vessel to deliver your message this night. In Jesus’ Name.

And the people of God said amen. You may be seated in the house of the Lord.

There is a saying that goes like this, that children are a product of their environment. Children are a product of their environment.

When we look at the word “environment,” it means the conditions or the influences that effect the growth and development of a child or even a plant.

Adam and Eve’s disobedience brought sin into the human race as we know it. And they may have thought that their sin by eating the forbidden fruit was minor. But when we look at what it did (glory to God), it brought their sin nature that was in them into their children. Glory to God.

And what had happened was, they did not realize that what they had done was going to effect not only their children, but the whole race as it is today.

Come on. Give God some praise tonight.

Simple disobedience degenerated into outright murder.

You see, you and I are supposed to be a product of our environment. And you see, our dwelling place is not supposed to be here in the earth. Because we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Not only are we seated there, but the Bible says that our conversation is also in heaven. And therefore if we are a product of our environment, then we should be just as He is.

You see, when you receive Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that there was a new birth. There was a new beginning. All things passed away. And behold, all things became new. And we started our lives afresh in Jesus Christ.

But when we look at this story tonight, why is it that just like Cain slew his brother... You don’t want to talk to me. We slay our brothers. And we slay our sisters. Come on. Talk to me tonight.

You see, that murder spirit is not supposed to be a part of our environment. Because we don’t operate in the sin nature any more. We have taken on the holiness of God. Because we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

We are supposed to be a product of our environment. And when we look at the environment that we inhabit, the Bible says it’s nothing but love. The Bible says it’s nothing but joy. The Bible says it’s nothing but peace. The Bible says it’s nothing but happiness. God’s environment is an environment that will cause you to rise above your situation. Come on. Talk to me tonight. And tell the devil the victory is already mine.

We are the children of God. We are the people of God. And through His Word we begin to take on His nature. Through the Word of God there’s a supernatural change that takes place on the inside, that everybody else is supposed to be able to see on the outside.

I’m just going to ignore the devil tonight.

We are products of our environment. You see, the environment that we are supposed to dwell in, we should hear the angels crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole world is full of His Glory.” We should see the seraphims and the cherubims flying all around. We should see the eyes everywhere. We should see the wheel within the middle of the wheel. We should inhabit that environment. Everything about us should emulate who He is.

So now we got to tonight kill that spirit of Cain. Come on. Give Him a handclap of praise. The spirit of Cain has tried to grip the body of Christ. Because too many times we feel as though God should have accepted what we have given unto Him.

But when God does not move for us the way He moves for somebody else, immediately that spirit of Cain begins to try to dwell on the inside of us. And that rejection that he feels is the same rejection that we feel.

But God is still saying the same thing. He’s saying, “If you do... If you bring what I desire, if you bring what I want, shall you not be accepted?” So that leaves us with a choice, just like Cain had a choice. Cain had a choice to do it all over again. But Cain chose to slay his brother.

Come on. Give God a handclap of praise.

You see, when you’re dealing with family, there should be nothing wrong with a little competition every now and then. But see, not only should there be a little competition. There should be a whole lot of cooperation.

You see, the word “competition” means to strive with. It means to contend with. Every now and then there’s going to be a fight among family. But see, when siblings begin to fight, most of the time what it does, it draws them into a stronger bond together. That’s if the spirit of Cain is not in operation.

You see, rejection is a powerful thing. And when a person is feeling rejected, they will destroy everything in their path. They will even call you out to the field. You don’t want to talk to me. They’ll try to make you think that it’s going to be alright. “You just come out here with me for a little while.” But you don’t see the knife and the ax that they got in... Oh, my God. Who am I preaching to tonight?

He said, “Come on out here. Come to the field with me for a little while, baby brother. I want to show you how to farm the land.” Because the Bible said that Cain was a tiller of the ground.

I can imagine him talking to his brother Abel and telling him, “You know, I like those sheep that you got. And you take care of them real well. But let me show you something about sowing. You see, when I sow something into the ground, something’s going to shoot up out of the ground.”

And I can imagine Abel looking at him and saying, “Yeah, brother. Show me how you do it.” And so all innocently he comes out into the field with his brother. And Abel says, “Now brother, show me what it is that you do.”

And I can imagine that ax or that hovel or whatever instrument he had coming down on his brother and saying him, and his blood beginning to cry out from the ground.

You see, every time we murder one our brothers and sisters, their blood begins to cry out to God from the ground. Every now and then (glory to God) in your heart you’re going to feel like you want vengeance. But the Bible says, “Vengeance is Mine, saith the Lord. I shall repay.” You don’t have to worry about trying to get revenge. He’ll take care of the battle for you. Come on. Give God some praise tonight.

See, they thought you were dead. But God is about to resurrect you. Oh, you don’t want to talk to me. You all got me up here working up a sweat.

That spirit of competition, it outweighed cooperation. You see, they could have been tight. Look at your neighbor and say, “I want to be tight.” See, they could have been tight. But there was too much competition.

You know why folks in the body of Christ can’t get tight? Because we too busy trying to compete with one another. Oh, you better talk to me tonight. My God, my God. I’m going to preach (glory to God) until sweat like drops of blood come down from my forehead.

We can’t get tight because we’re too busy trying to compete. We don’t know how to cooperate. We always want to be on top. And we always want what we do to be the best. And we always want somebody to look at us. Come on. Talk to me tonight. Don’t nobody want to look at you. Somebody want to look at Jesus.

There was too much competition that was going on and I can see Cain now when he bringing his offering. I can see that he brought his best corn. You don’t want to talk to me tonight. I can see those peas will just snap if you just broke them. He brought the best that he thought that he could bring. But it wasn’t what God wanted.

And you see, when someone is competitive with you, when you outdo them, they will get mad with you. They’ll get angry with you. And nothing that you ever do can satisfy.

The spirit of competition came through the sin nature. You got somebody in here tonight that’s trying to compete with you. But the Bible says they that judge themselves by themselves are not wise.

When I look at you I should be looking to see how much Jesus you got in you. And when I find what I need, I usually say, “Yeah, I need some of that. Because I’m lacking in that area, brother. Help me with that little walk.” Do you hear what I’m saying tonight? Help me out a little bit.

The spirit of competition brought forth the spirit of rejection, which brought forth the spirit of murder. You see, if you try to compete with folks too long, you’re going to wind up destroying not only them. But you’re going to destroy yourself.

The Bible said that God cursed Cain. But Cain said, “What You have judged me with is a little bit too much, Lord. I don’t think I can handle it.” So God took a little bit of the curse off of him. But he was still cursed. A curse is a curse is a curse.

You see, if you allow the spirit of competition to rule you, you going to destroy yourself.

When we look at the book of Genesis chapter twenty-five, here’s another story of two brothers. It’s talking about Esau and Jacob.

And the Lord had spoken (glory to God) to the man of God. Because his wife Rebecca, the Bible said that she was barren and that she could not have any children.

So the man of God went before the Lord. And he entreated God and said, “Lord, my wife is barren. Would You allow her to have a child?” And the Bible went on to say that there were two nations in her womb. And they were struggling together.

You see, you and I a lot of times are in the womb of the Spirit. Come on, talk to me, Sister Nadine. We’re in the womb of the Spirit. And a lot of times there are twins. There are triplets. There are quadruplets. There are quintuplets all in the womb of the Spirit together. But let me tell you something. Can’t but one be born at a time.

The Bible said that there was a struggle going on on the inside. Even in the womb before the delivery takes place, the spirit of Cain is trying to wreak havoc in the body of Christ, before the baby can even be delivered. You better talk to me tonight.

The twins are fighting among each other. They’re trying to see who’s the best. They’re trying to find out who’s going to come out first. They want to see who’s the most anointed. Oh, come on. Talk to me tonight.

Competition. It even starts in the womb. There was a battle that was going on. And Rebecca felt the struggle. And you imagine a mother feeling the battle? Because she was a spiritual woman. And the Bible said that there was two nations inside of her. So surely she knew what was going on. A nation was trying to fight against a nation.

The Bible says that we are what? A holy nation. And we got holy nations trying to fight against holy nations.

Why the struggle in the womb? Why? Somebody’s got to come out first. Just because you don’t come out the womb first doesn’t mean you’re going to lack something. You’ll still come out fully developed.

The Bible went on to say that at the birth when Esau came through the canal of the womb that Jacob grabbed hold of his heel. Oh, come on. Talk to me. In other words Jacob was saying, “It ain’t over yet, partner. The fight has only just begun.”

The Bible said that Esau came out all red. Probably was from Jacob reigning blows on him. Come on. Talk to me tonight. Let’s have a little fun in this thing.

But Esau came out first. And therefore the birthright was rightfully his. Let me tell you something. You don’t have to fight with anybody about your spiritual birthright. Because what belongs to you belongs to you.

I can see him. Jacob still inside. And his hand coming out the womb, grabbing the heal of his brother. The spirit of competition.

See, I don’t want my sons to compete with me. I want them to be better than me. Do you hear what I’m saying?

Elisha was anointed by Elijah to be better than Elijah. Do you hear what I’m saying?

When your spiritual father anoints you, he’s anointing you for the double portion. Because there’s more work for you to do than I do.

But as spiritual fathers we sit back. And we watch our sons and our daughters. And one is talented and gifted in this area. And another one that area. And then there’s one that seems, and he feels as though he doesn’t have anything.

And then there’s the ones that are gifted and talented, and all they do... When they do it, they do it effortlessly. They don’t even have to work at it. Oh, you don’t want to talk to me tonight. But the ones that got to work at it, they get upset, say, “Why can’t it be me?”

But see, little do you know that you’re a ram in the bush. And God’s got you ready for the world. Oh, Jesus. He’s already got you set up for greatness. But He’s keeping you in the bread basket just a little while longer. So though your brother has passed through the womb, stop pulling at his heel.

That man of God right there, I was at a revival. We were preaching and teaching. And God was moving by His Spirit. And he wasn’t saved. And God lead me to call him up there that night. And I began to minister to him. And that night he got saved. This was last year. And if you heard him pray today, you never know he just got saved.

He’s in the womb. He’s in the womb. You see, a womb is a place where you’re supposed to be protected. It’s a place where you receive your nutrition, where you can get fed supernaturally. Because somebody’s watching over you.

Somebody’s talking to you, telling you how wonderful you are, how great you are, how much they love you. Singing songs to you. Come on. Talk to me tonight. He that has an ear, let him hear.

Too much competition in the body. So what if you don’t preach like T. D. Jakes? So what if they don’t get healed like in Benny Hinn’s meetings? So what if they don’t laugh like they laugh in Jessie Duplanis meetings? But how effective are you being in the body?

See, the Bible says that you’re placed there. And the body is fitly joined together. You got a purpose just for who you are.

Even though I impart my gift and I impart my mantle, there’s still going to be individuality about you. You’re not going to be just like me. You’re not going to be just like her.

But though when you operate there will be similarities, because you’re my son. You’re supposed to look like me. Because you’re my daughter. You’re supposed to look like daddy. Oh, come on. Talk to me tonight.

That spirit of Cain has got to die. It’s got to die.

If you’ve been rejected because you were in ministry at one time, or you been rejected because what you do doesn’t seem to be as anointed or, you know, when you speak it’s not as eloquent as somebody else, just wait a little while longer. Because Daddy ain’t through with you yet.

Saints of God, if you are a competitive person in the body of Christ, you need to let that thing go tonight. You need to let it go. Especially if you be trying to compete with me or with her. You need to let that mess go.

The vision of this ministry is to raise up ministry teams. And for those that are not married (glory to God), if God doesn’t see fit for them to get married, they’ll be raised up also into the thing that God has called them up into. And to be able to go out and minister to a dying world.

See, the vision is not to keep you all cramped up and tied up. Because after while you got to have your own space. If that’s what you’re called to. But my job is to train you up, to help you get where you need to go.

There were folks that were in my path that helped me, that showed me the ropes, that talked to me, that sat down and told me, “Because of your gift they’re going to come, and they’re going to try to offer you money, bribes, and everything else. But don’t take it. Don’t take it.”

And your gift is going to be ten times better than mine. And you better not take it. And don’t you go out there and let some man of God or woman of God puff you up about you. You better keep that big old head puffed down, and don’t be puff daddy or puff mama.

Saints, we got to love one another. If I do something better than you do it, then so be it. If you do something better than I do it, then so be it. So be it.

Don’t kill your brothers and sisters. Tell them how much you love them. Tell them you want to see them make it. Tell them how wonderful they dance. Tell them how wonderful they sing. Tell them how awesome they preached.

Oh, come on. Give Him some glory. Give Him some glory. Give Him some glory tonight.

Tell them. They need to hear it. They need to hear it. And if you’ve been in it for a while (We getting ready to close in a second), and you got your little brother or sister coming up, and you can see the Glory on them, don’t try to knock the Glory off of them. “You ain’t ready yet. Sit down for a little while longer. You got up again. Sit down again.” Don’t do it.

And if they seem a little too zealous, don’t kill their spirit. Hey, Jesus. I felt Him. Don’t kill their spirit. You may have been zealous. I didn’t kill yours. Bring them up.

Turn them to the side. Say, “Brother, sister, this is how it should be done.” But if they got a better idea than you got, don’t have too much pride to say, “Oh, yeah. That’s better.”

I am my brother’s keeper. I don’t want to compete.

You don’t have to look at nobody. But I want you to repeat this after me tonight. I want you to say, “I’m not in competition with my brothers or with my sisters. I’m in the work of the Lord for the work of the Kingdom’s sake, that God will be glorified through His Son in Jesus’ Name.

“Now Cain, you’re dead. I bind you. Go back to the dry places in Jesus’ Name.”

Come on, give God a handclap of praise.
