Saints of God, God desires our understanding to be enlightened.
He desires our understanding to be enlightened to the fact that in
order to have a victory there’s got to be a fight. In order for us to
be victorious, there must have been some sort of battle or some
sort of struggle that we were able to overcome.
Every head bowed and every eye closed.
Master, we thank You tonight for who You are and for what You
do. Master, hide Your son behind the cross that Your people
would see and hear You only and not me. Master, I decrease
right now that You would increase. And Lord, let the words of my
mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight,
oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ Name.
And the people of God said amen.
So in order to declare victory there must have been some struggle
or battle that you and I were able to overcome. Turn over with me
in your Bibles to the book of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy chapter
one. Glory to God. Deuteronomy chapter one. When you reach
the book of Deuteronomy just signify by saying amen. Look at
verse twenty -three.
23. And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of
you, one of a tribe:
24. And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came
unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
25. And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and
brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is
a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
26. Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the
commandment of the LORD your God:
27. And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD
hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to
deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
28. Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our
heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities
are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen
the sons of the Anakims there.
29. Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
Verse thirty.
30. The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight
for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your
eyes;
31. And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the
LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the
way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32. Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
33. Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to
pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way ye
should go, and in a cloud by day.
34. And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth,
and sware, saying,
35. Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation
see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
36. Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him
will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children,
because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
37. Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying,
Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38. But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he
shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to
inherit it.
Look at verse thirty-nine to verse forty.
39. Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey,
and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between
good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it,
and they shall possess it.
40. But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the
wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
And we will entitle this message “Against all Odds.” You see, God
moves for us against all odds.
And here we have in the book of Deuteronomy Moses speaking
and giving three different addresses to the people of God. In the
first address, Moses emphasizes the mighty acts of God for the
nation of Israel. Listen. And in the second address he
emphasizes principles for Godly living. But in the third address he
calls for a commitment to God. But there’s something in this first
address that I want to get across to you on tonight.
Moses retold in chapter one and verse twenty-three through verse
forty the story of the spy mission into the promised land,
according to Numbers chapter thirteen. And when the spies
returned with the reports of giants and walled cities, the people
were afraid to move ahead and began to complain about their
situations. But this minority report of Joshua and Caleb pointed
out that the land was fertile, and the enemy was vulnerable, and
God was on the other side.
And God is speaking to us tonight, because God has moved with
us, and He’s told us that He is going to bring us into the promised
land. But a lot of us have peeked over into the promise and we
say there’s giants in the land. We begin to murmur, and we begin
to complain that, “God, this can’t be. Why did You bring us out of
where we were in fornication and adultery to bring us into a place
that You said was a promise, a land flowing with milk and honey,
and we got to fight?”
Let me tell you something. When God gives you a promise you
are going to reach that promise and obtain that promise against
all odds. Give Him praise in this house tonight.
You see, you’ve got to understand that when you came to Jesus
Christ, all odds were against you. You see, Satan immediately
began to attack everything about you. He began to attack your
character. He began to attack your integrity. He began to . . .
Oh, my God. Do you hear what I’m saying tonight to you? You
see, Satan has been on a mission ever since you gave your life
over to Jesus Christ, to destroy your reputation. But let me tell
you something, child of God. You’re going to make it against all
odds. I don’t care what’s against you tonight, God has purposed .
. . Oh, my God. I know I’m talking to somebody.
I don’t care what it’s been looking like, because a lot of us have
began to look back. A lot of us are beginning to hold back on
God, because God promised this and God promised that, but the
way seems too hard. Come on, somebody. It seems like we’re
just not going to make it. Discouragement all over the house.
Disappointment all in the atmosphere. But I came to tell you
tonight that you’re going to make it against all odds. If God said it,
that settles it. It surely shall come to pass. Give Him praise
tonight.
You see, you’ve got to understand that a lot us become fearful.
And when we become fearful, we become immobile, when we
focus on the negative aspects of our situation. And when I survey
the house of God, a lot of you are going through some situations.
But you need to start dwelling on the positive, and you need to cut
down the negative. Oh, I’m talking to somebody in this house.
It’s easy to see what’s wrong, but it takes a child of God to see
what’s right. Praise Him in this house tonight.
Against all odds. This is where we are in the body of Christ
tonight. You’ve got to understand that Joshua and Caleb saw
victory even when everybody else saw defeat. Do you hear me
tonight? Because they focused on the positives while trusting in
God to overcome the negatives. You’ve got to get into the realm
where you trust in God even though everything is negative around
you, even though everybody around you is speaking negative.
Oh, my God. I know I’m talking to somebody. Even when they
said you can’t do it, even when they said you can’t make it, you
got to wait on God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Praise Him in this
house tonight.
He’s talking to us. He’s speaking to us. Because there’s been a
lot of negative thoughts lately. That’s why we can’t get into the
praise, and that’s why we can’t get into the worship, because our
minds have been consumed with the negative. But I believe the
report of the Lord. Do you hear what I’m saying? I don’t care
what it looks like. I don’t care what it sounds like. I’m going to
make it. Look at your neighbor and say, “I’m going to make it,
against all odds.”
You see, you’ve got to understand that when you (my God)
decided to live for Christ everything began to come against you.
Don’t you know that Satan even attacked Job, and he told God,
“The only reason why he’s serving You is because You hedged
him in, and because You blessed him.”
But I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the manifestations of
Job’s blessings yet, but I’m going to bless God right now, right
where I am, because one of these old days against all odds I’m
going to make it. I don’t care what it looks like, I’m going to make
it. I don’t care. I don’t care. I don’t care. Glory to God. Glory to
God. Hallelujah.
You see, all odds against me, it begins to speak to me, when
everything is against me. It begins to tell me. It begins to tell me
that I need divine intervention. You see, God is always going to
allow your problems to be bigger than you, because He doesn’t
want you to say, “Look at what I done. Look at . . .” Oh, my God.
He doesn’t want you to have a remedy to get out of your situation.
He just wants you to say, “It must have been the hand of Almighty
God.” Hallelujah, hallelujah. Look at your neighbor and say, “It’s
going to take divine intervention.”
You see, all odds are against you tonight. You’ve got to
understand that. And I’ve got to understand that God is speaking
to me that He purposed it to be like this. He purposed it to be like
this. I want you to understand in your mind that He purposed you
to be in a struggle and in a battle right now. I know you’re trying
to get out of it, but let God do what He wants to do. I know you’re
trying to find a way of escape, but stay in the fire until He lets you
out of the fire. Stop trying to get out. Because you’re going to
make it against all odds.
You see, I’ve allowed, a lot of times, my battles and my struggles
to overtake me. And I began to sit down in a place of depression
and in a place of discouragement, because, “God, it doesn’t look
like what You said is going to happen. God, there’s not enough
people. There are a lot of people, God. But God, there’s not
enough people to work. Oh God, You said that You’re going to do
this, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. God, You said I
was going to have this, but God, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to
happen.”
But let me explain something to you, child of God. Everything
happens in God’s timing and in God’s season. You can’t control
God’s timing. You can’t control God’s season, so you might as
well praise Him right where you are.
Against all odds tonight you’re going to make it. You’ve got to
understand that Abraham and Sarah in the book of Genesis, the
Bible said that they were past child-bearing years. Do you
understand it? The odds were against them, wasn’t it? Their
bodies (my God) were going through the stages of age. And they
had come to the place where he could not produce and she could
not receive. But against all odds the promise of God was
manifest in their lives. Do you understand what I’m saying?
There was a little child in the book of Exodus. His name was
Moses. And Pharaoh decided that every young man was going to
be killed. But, my God, God gave his mother a plan. She put him
in a basket and sent him down the Nile. Oh, my God. Do you
hear what I’m saying? And against all odds he became a
deliverer of Israel. God’s talking to you tonight, because it doesn’t
seem like the promises of God are going to happen. But if you
wait a little while longer . . . Oh, my God, somebody. Give Him
praise in this house.
Against all odds you’re going to make it. Look at your neighbor,
because your neighbor’s been going through. They don’t believe
me tonight. They’re still waiting on something to happen. But,
baby, you done missed it, because something already done
happened. Oh, my God, in this house. I wish I had a shouting
church. Hey! Hey! Hey!
You’re going to make it. You’re going to make it tonight. You’re
going to make it. I know what Satan did. I know what the devil
said, but you’re going to make it. You’re going to make it. You’re
going to make it. He planned it just like it is. You’ve been trying
to get out of it. You even felt like quitting.
Do you remember in the book of Second Kings, the Bible said that
there was a widow woman and she didn’t have enough money to
pay her bills? But there was a man of God that was around. Do
you hear what I’m saying tonight? And she began to speak to the
man of God. And she began to say, “I don’t have enough money
to pay my bills, and the creditors are coming to take my sons.”
But let me tell you something. God began to move against all
odds. There was a manifestation of a blessing in the midst of the
warfare, in the midst of the battle, in the midst of the struggle.
Hey! Oh, yeah. Somebody needed to hear this tonight.
Somebody needed this word tonight. Somebody needed this
word tonight. Hallelujah. I don’t know about you, but I find myself
speaking to myself, and I find myself saying, “Self, why so
downcast, oh my soul? Put your trust in God.” Somebody needs
to speak to themselves tonight, and you need to say to your soul,
“Why so downcast, oh my soul?” Come on, somebody.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You’re going to make it against all
odds. All odds are against you. I’m not going to tell you about the
blessing tonight. I’m going to tell you that all odds are against
you, and unless you trust God, unless you believe His Word
Satan thinks that you’re going to be a trophy on the wall. But I got
news for the devil tonight. We’re going to make it. Yeah. Yes.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
He knows what’s been going on. He knows what you’ve been
going through. He understands it. He understands it. He
understands it. He hasn’t left you. You thought He left you. You
thought He left you. You thought He left you. But He hasn’t left
you. You’re going to make it against all odds. Give Him praise
tonight. Give Him praise tonight. Give Him praise tonight, church.
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Somebody needed this.
Somebody needed this.
