Driving Out the Giants

Please turn in your Bibles with me this morning to the book of Numbers. Numbers chapter thirteen. When you reach the book of Numbers chapter thirteen please stand for the reading of God’s Word, and signify with a hearty amen. In number thirteen the reader is going to read verse one through verse three. And then he’s going to take verse sixteen all the way down to verse thirty-three. Verse one through verse three, and then verse sixteen all the way to verse thirty-three. When you have it, say amen again. Reader.

1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2. Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

3. And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

Read that one again.

3. And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

They were what? Heads of the children of Israel. Verse sixteen.

16. These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17. And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18. And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19. And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20. And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21. So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22. And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23. And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25. And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

27. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30. And Caleb stilled the people . . .

Caleb did what?

30. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it . . .

Let us do what?

30. . . . Let us go up at once, and possess it;for we are well able to overcome it.

31. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Amen. We will entitle this message this morning “Driving out the Giants.” Driving out the Giants. Let us pray.

Father, we thank You and praise You for this day that we’ve never seen before. Father, hide Your son behind the cross, that Your people would see and hear You only, and not me. And dear Lord, I decrease that You will increase. And Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. I thank You for the Anointing that is present that removes every burden and destroys every yoke. In Jesus holy and blessed Name.

And the people of God said amen. You may be seated in the house of the Lord.

Driving out the Giants. When we look at the children of Israel, there were a series of events that had taken place leading up to their search and investigation of the promised land. There was a series of events that led to the investigation and the searching out of the promised land.

Back in the book (glory to God) of Numbers chapter eleven we had the children of Israel complaining about their circumstance. Then we had them complaining about their food, that they did not have exactly what they wanted to eat. Then Moses began to complain himself about the people. Glory to God.

And then all of a sudden after Moses complained God provides for Moses. And after God began to provide (glory to God) for Moses, God provided quail for the people to eat, because they wanted some meat in their diets. After that God sent a plague to them, because He was displeased with them, and He began to judge them (glory to God) because they did not receive what God wanted to give them.

Then all of a sudden we have leadership, not only leadership, but the brother and the sister of Moses, being Aaron and Miriam, they are rebelling against Moses because Moses marries someone outside of their race. Amen.

So all of these different events have gone on through the process of time. And now we have (glory to God) the children of Israel getting ready to investigate and to spy out the land. And here we have Moses being led and commanded by God to choose only the heads of the different tribes that they had, to go out and spies and see what was going on in the land.

Don’t you know that God will allow (glory to God) the man of God to see what is in the heart of the leaders? Come on, somebody. They had been in a place (glory to God) with all of these people for all of this different time, went through all the trials and the tribulation, following the vision that God had given the man of God. And then all of a sudden God tells them to go out and spy the land. God had already given them the land and told them that they were going to possess it (glory to God). But now God wants them to see (glory to God) what it is that they are going to possess.

But any time you’re going to possess something, don’t you know that there’s going to be opposition in your way? Come on, somebody. So the leaders had followed . . . Come on, leaders. Don’t go away from me. Listen to what I’m saying today. They had followed all of this time, and now they’re in a test in the vision. Don’t you know that God will begin to test the leaders in the vision? Oh, my God. We always talk about the congregation. But God will test the leaders in the vision. Oh, I’m not going to get too many amens this morning.

And so here we have the heads of every tribe. He did not tell Moses to go and pick the congregation of people, but He told him to pick the people that were already in position, and tell them to go and spy out the land. Would not you believe that they would come back with the report of the Lord? But how many of you know after a while the folks that were with you before, after while they don’t want to be with you no more? Do you hear what I’m saying? They start seeing it the way that you see it. All of a sudden they get cold feet, and they can’t step in the places where you step.

So here we have the leaders going into Canaan land to spy out the land, to see. Oh, my God. This land’s flowing with milk and honey. But they begin to see the opposition that they were about to be up against. And all of a sudden they come back, not with the report of the Lord, but they Bible said they came back with a evil report.

Don’t you know you got to watch who’s in leadership with you? Oh, do you hear what I’m saying today? Because they may have been for you when the prophecy was given about what you were going to receive. But when they see what you’ve got to go through to get it, all of a sudden they want to turn around and say, “It’s too much for me.” Oh, I’m talking to some leaders right now.

Just stay with me, because I’m going to jump around. I’m going to jump around a little bit. You see, I got to hit everybody today. Do you hear what I’m saying, saints?

You see, they had heard the word about the promises of God. But then when they went and they saw . . . They could see the blessings of the Lord, but they saw what they had to go through to get it. And all of a sudden they started changing the way they used to talk when they used to encourage everybody else to push on. Now they’re trying to discourage everybody else from entering in.

Oh, that’s a word. Somebody say, “That’s a word.” I’m talking to some folks that are losing their vision today. I’m talking to some folks that used to lift up holy hands and shout all over the church. Now you see what it takes to be in God, and now you don’t want it no more. Don’t you look at me like that. You want the grapes. Hello, somebody. You want the territory. But you got to be willing to drive out the giants in order to get what God’s got for you.

We begin to lose heart about the vision, because we begin to see what it takes. We begin to become . . . Oh, my God. We all of a sudden, we’re tired, and we can’t come to prayer. Come on, somebody. All of a sudden I got so much to do, I can’t make it to the house of God. I’m still talking to leaders right now.

We lose sight of the vision. We want the gravy and we want the biscuits, but we don’t want to get burnt by the oil popping out of the skillet.

So he sent these spies. Don’t you know that in your leadership position God will begin to test you before you get to the promise? Because He doesn’t want you to get there if you’re not the right person to be in there.

So they came back with an evil report. They came back with discouraging news. Don’t you know that you should never try to discourage your pastor? I don’t care what it looks like out there. Whatever God said, that’s the way it should be. If it ain’t but two folk out here sitting in seats, you need to say, “Pastor, there ain’t but two out there right now, but God said . . .” Don’t bring me that evil report when I got the promise of God.

Somebody say, “He got us already.” Oh, you ain’t say it like you mean it. He got us this morning. Amen.

I’m talking to the leaders right now, in whatever capacity you’re leading in. Because you can’t just want the promise without driving out the devils that are trying to occupy what God has promised you. You’re not just going to walk into something and say, “Here I am,” and just get blessed and drink the juice and sit back in your lawn chair. God is saying, “You got to work with Me.” Somebody say amen. Amen, leaders. Amen.

He already knew their faults. He already knew that they weren’t going to make it all the way. And there is some leaders that are in here this morning, you’re not going to make it. I can see it now. I know it’s tight. It’s hard. I know it is. Because you want the glitter and the glamor and the fame, but you don’t want the sweat and the tears and the blood. You want it easy. You want to sit back. You want to lay back. But all of that is going to take you back. Hallelujah.

We got to drive out the giants. He had already told them that the land belonged to them. Possession means that it’s mine. Possession means that I can stake a claim on it. And some of you are sitting out here because God has promised you something, but you don’t understand that if God said it was yours, that means that you possess it already. Do you hear what I’m saying today? Oh, my God. God has given them this land. He has given them this territory, but they did not really understand what God really wanted them to posses.

Listen, child of God. What I’m saying to you today is when God promises you something, what He is saying is, “I want you to possess the will of God for your life.” Let me change your mind set. Because when God promises us something we start to focus on that thing that He promised us instead of focusing on the will of God for our lives.

You see, if I begin to focus on that thing that He promised me, then I can lose heart in that thing. But if I know that I’m in the will of God and I’m doing it for the will of God, I get a bonus and a tenacity about me that nothing in God’s green earth is going to stop me. Oh, I feel the Anointing of God.

The ones that came back with the evil report, they did not understand that it wasn’t just the land and the territory and all the milk and the honey that was flowing that He wanted them to have. He wanted them to have the will of God for your lives.

You see, one thing about God, He speaks in future tense a lot. If you notice, a lot of times when we prophesy, we speak about future things, about things that God is about to bring to pass in your life. But don’t you know that with what God has promised we’ve got to work together with God to bring that thing to pass? Do you hear what I’m saying? We’ve got to start working that thing. We’ve got to start working. Lord God. In the Name of Jesus. We’ve got to start (oh, my God) being about God’s business and making sure that that thing comes to pass based on our reactions.

Because whenever you get a promise, it is naked. Do you hear what I’m saying? That promise is naked, if you will. It’s not clothed yet. Because it has not been manifest in the natural yet. Once something is manifest in the natural, that means now it is clothed. Do you hear what I’m saying? God gives you a naked word, and He expects you to put the clothes on that thing that He has . . . Oh, my God. Do you hear what I’m saying?

He had given them a naked word about the promised land. And God was saying, “Now, you got to work for what I give to you, to make sure that thing comes to pass.

He gives us a promise, and then it’ll seem like the resources that He gives us is not enough to make that promise come to pass. Have you ever gotten a promise from God, and then the resources weren’t what you needed? Do you hear what I’m saying? Oh, my God.

When you understand the church, and that the church (Glory to God), until they begin to come into the place of thousands and millions of dollars . . . We’re walking by faith every single day, to make sure that everything is taken care of, in the manner and the capacity that God desires it to be in. And a lot of times in the natural, the tangible, we don’t have the resources.

But let me tell you something. We got faith. Do you hear what I’m saying? You and I have got to have faith as a grain of mustard seed. The Bible said in Hebrews eleven and one, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

God is saying to you, “You may not have the tangible resources, but I’ve given you faith to make sure that things is seen through.”

So what He was doing with them, He was saying, “You need to have faith to drive these giants out of the land. You don’t need to have faith within yourself, but you need to have faith in Me, that I’m going to tell you exactly what to do, that what I promised you (oh, my God) will be yours.”

And so God, God had given them a promise. He had given them a promise. He had given them a promise.

Look at your Bibles. Look at verse thirty. It said:

30. And Caleb stilled the people . . .

He said, “Shhhh” before the man of God. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. The man of God didn’t even have to say nothing. There was a leader that stepped up to the plate and said, “Hold up, ya’ll. Wait a minute. Shhhh. We need to just be quiet for just a moment.” Do you hear what I’m saying?

There was a leader that stepped up to the plate that had the Anointing of God on his life. He didn’t step out in the flesh, but he stepped out in the Spirit and said, “Shhhh.” There’s something about somebody that’s anointed telling you what to do. All of a sudden you’ll be quiet when you don’t want to be quiet.

He stepped out. He said, “Hold up.” He said, “Hold up, ya’ll.” Look at your Bibles.

30. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once . . .

We were just talking about “Now faith . . . Now faith is . . .” In other words, when we look at “at once” it means “right now.” Right now. In other words, in order for us to profess this thing, we’ve got to act right now. In order for you to receive the blessing of God, you have to have “right now” faith. Somebody say, “I got faith right now.”

He said, “Let us go up at once.” He said, “Let us go up at once and possess it.”

“Possess it” means (glory to God) to occupy it. Let us go up at once to get power over it. Let us go up at once to be able to control it. Do you hear what I’m saying?

He said, “Not yesterday.” He said, “Right now. We’ve got to act right now.” Because when we look at the blessing, the promise, it already had God’s name on it.

Any time you get a blessing or expect a blessing it needs to be defined that it’s not by you, but it’s by God. When you put God’s Name on something (oh, my God) heaven and earth got to move for the Name of Jesus. Because at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. You’ve got to put God’s Name on that thing. Somebody say, “Right now.” Glory to God.

He was talking about doing that thing right now. Because you and I have got to understand that God’s desire over you will be birthed in you to do His will. God’s desire for you will be birthed in you to do His will. Because promises are not given on our own desires, but they’re given on God’s desires. What God desires for you.

The state, the condition that you’re in, if it’s a negative situation, it’s not what God desires for you; and therefore you need to start saying to yourself, “This is only temporary.” This is only temporary.

You see, what we ask God for, even when we ask God for things, even according to the promises of God, it’s God to represent His Name and His character. If it does not represent His Name and His character, then you and I won’t receive it. Somebody say, “I want God’s will.”

We have to create that blessing (listen) into the image of God. In other words, we got to polish it. We got to position it into the purpose of God. Because when I have a blessing or a promise from God, I cannot allow myself (do you hear what I’m saying?) to make it seem as though it was my will and my purpose that this thing happened the way it did. I got to position that thing that when everybody looks at it, they can say, “This can’t be nobody but God.” Do you hear what I’m saying today? I know couldn’t no man do that. It had to be God.

Oh, somebody. Oh, I feel the Anointing of God today. Because we’re driving some giants out of the land today. We’re driving some demons back in the Name of Jesus. They got to get out of my way. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

You see, because if I don’t position that blessing to make sure people see that it was the will and the purpose of God, it will become a nightmare to me. Because God will begin to take His hand off of it, and He’ll allow Satan to come in and do whatever he wants to do. Have you ever seen Satan tear up something that it seemed like God had started? What happened was the person tried to get the glory for themselves. And God said, “I won’t let nobody touch My Glory.”

We got to drive these giants out of the land. Look at verse thirty-one. It said:

Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Let me tell you something about evil reports. Evil reports wipe out your destiny. Evil reports wipe out your destiny. They get you into a place of error. They get you into a place of thinking that even the diving hand of God cannot take care of this. Don’t you know that God can do anything? We been believing God to pay light bills that are fifty dollars when God wants to make us the president of the whole country. Do you hear what I’m saying?

God’s desire is for us to drive the giants out of the land. Drive them out. Drive them out. Somebody say, “I’ve got to start driving them out.”

You see, let me tell you something. If you’re character is not right or even . . . Listen. I’m not trying to be harsh or people to have low self esteem. For if you have low self esteem, you cannot possess the land. In other words, you cannot possess the promise of God, because your mind set is wrong. Do you hear what I’m saying? That means that you’re trusting in your own way to try to make that thing come to pass, to make it a reality, to make it manifest, to make it tangible. I don’t want to trust me with nothing. I’ve seen what me can do. Me can step out in something that was blessed and mess it all up.

If I have the wrong state of being, then I cannot possess the promise. You see, when we look at these men that gave this evil report, they were insecure not only with themselves, but they were insecure with the mighty God.

Is there anybody in here that’s ever been insecure about something? But it’s just something about God when He tells you that He’ll be with you. It’s just something about God going before you, Jehovah-nissi, your banner. It’s just something about God, the strength of God. You don’t even see Him with your natural eye, but have you ever experienced somebody’s heart being changed right before your face? Have you ever experienced a situation, just all of a sudden, just working out? Because you began to under your breath . . . [speaking in tongues] . . . and they couldn’t hear you, but you were speaking in a language that God heard. Oh, I feel the Anointing of God in this house.

And because you make contact with them, the enemy begins to be driven back. The enemy just begins to be driven back. Somebody say, “He’s driving them back.” In the Name of Jesus.

Let me explain something to you. You not only have external giants, but you’ve got internal giants. You’ve got pride and haughtiness and hatred that you’ve got to learn how to drive out. Do you hear what I’m saying? I’m not talking about the demonic forces yet. Those are the external ones that you’ve got to understand that you’ve got power and authority over in the Name of Jesus, that you can call them down and send them back to the dry places.

Somebody say, “We’re driving them out.” I don’t know about you this morning, but I got some giants that I’m about to drive out. I got a destiny in God that I got to get to. I can’t worry about what they got to say. I can’t worry about what they do. I got to drive out, in the Name of Jesus.

If you agree with me, stand to your feet and give God a shout. Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive! Drive, drive, drive! Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive! Somebody say, “I’m driving them out.” I’m driving them out. Drive them off your job. Drive them out of your house. Drive them out of your relationships. Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive! Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
